If you're stressed out by the challenges of parenting and don't have time for a mani/pedi or cocktails with your girlfriends since the bouncer won't admit your child into the nearest wine bar, then we have just the solution for you. ReadSee Mom Run: Side Splitting Essays from the World's Most Harried Blogging Moms(Plain White Press/November 2009).

Why do you ask? Well, first, you won't gain weight. And secondly, as a veteran mom blogger, and the founder of RoleMommy.com, an online community and events company that empowers women to pursue their passion while raising family, Beth Feldman has come to discover that every mom has a side-splitting story within them that's bursting to come out. And while you may be trapped on the bleachers, soccer field, carpool lane or on a marathon conference call that lasts 72 hours, we've got just the solution to brighten up your overtaxed days and sleepless nights. With the help of the nation's most talented bloggers, authors, magazine writers, television producers, a retired senator and a gaggle of grandmothers, we share some of the most jaw-dropping, relatable and bittersweet moments of their lives in this fast-paced and entertaining read.

See Mom Run is an anthology guaranteed to cause readers to spontaneously burst out laughing in a sea of perfect strangers. Whether you've just given birth, at your wits end with a potty challenged toddler; raising a teen who has officially frozen you out because you are no longer the coolest mom on the planet; or have said goodbye to your college bound child as they've left finally the nest (or so you think), See Mom Run captures all the harried moments of our lives with candor, wit and a little wisdom thrown in for good measure.

Using the Outline View to Structure a Document in Word

When we're working on the manuscript of a non-fiction how-to book, our first task as editors is to make sure that the book is structured logically and that each section or chapter of the book contains the same list of elements.

When we work with an author to outline a book, our first step is to create a detailed outline for the book using Microsoft Word's outline view. We assign the highest level to sections or chapters, the next level to 1st level heads, and so on. We ask authors to fill in the sections as they write and to send us drafts with the outline in place.

Using this view, we can easily rearrange whole sections of a manuscript by simply dragging and dropping the highest-level heading within the section. This is vastly easier to manage than cutting and pasting pieces in the larger document.

Even better, once a document has been tagged in outline view, Word automatically assigns different text styles to the different levels of text. That makes it easy to change fonts universally, or to send the files to page-layout software or even to the web or eBook format while still retaining the document structure.

Samara Q. Klein speaks to Be Fit

Samara Q Klein spoke of her book Lite'n Up: Laugh Yourself Skinny to a crowd at The Westchester Mall in White Plains, NY.   The audience came from Be Fit, a walking club run by the Westchester County Dept. of Parks and Recreation.

Samara opened her talk with the Lite'n Up: Laugh Yourself Skinny "11th Commandment: Thou shall not weigh more than your refrigerator." and she followed up with some humorous anecdotes about her own dieting bio and some info from studies which demonstrated the one commonality all successful dieters have is a comfortable and humorous attitude towards dieting and body image.

Guilt, judgment, and negativity have no place in a successful weight-loss plan. Those are self defeating and a waste of time when it comes to eating healthfully.

Samara and AngelA special offer to all Be Fit attendees (and blog readers :) is the BeFit coupon code for the next 100 buyers Lite'n Up: Laugh Yourself Skinny may be purchased two for $22.20, the book is regularly $14.95 per copy.  Purchase one for yourself and one for a special somebody.

An RSS reader could change your life!

As a print publisher, I think that RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a breakthrough akin to the invention of the printing. With RSS, you can choose which pieces of information on the web that you want sent directly to you, and as a publisher, you can create streams of information in nearly any form: text, images, video, sound recordings, and have them picked up by your readers/viewers/listeners in any form.

This little video explains it beautifully. (If you don't see the video below, go to RSS in Plain English)
