Happy birthday to us! Plain White Press turns four with 2010 marking the anniversary of our first two products: Stone Pond and Sane Fitness. From the beginning, Plain White Press (of White Plains, NY) was created as a laboratory to figure out what's next in publishing. With the industry so quickly, we're not sure that we know what's next, but we're continuing to grow, learn, and evolve at each step.

We started with these values in mind:

• In a world of information overload, the role of the publisher is to become a filter for information, offering useful, effective, and entertaining media that is worth (at least) a small price.
• Authors offer both expertise and enthusiasm for their subject, and they are also the best ambassadors for their books.
• Editors and designers enhance the craft of the writer, and help present the work as is best suited for today's visual culture.
• Nice design makes us happy.
• Books have the power to change lives.

Over the course of few years, we've moved from publishing boxed kits in the gift market to publishing books specifically for busy moms, a market we over-committed moms feel is underserved. (But, then again, maybe we're just too busy to read.) We're building our titles to thrive in a multi-media, multi-e-book format. We want them to be both practical and inspiring and available where-ever and when-ever they can support our readers. We're tuned into new media, social networking, apps, and anything webby. We plan to be riding the wave as books turn to bytes.
